What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and
HOW DID THE UNIVERSE COME TO BE?
It is a
figment of everyone's collective imagination. You and I
and the rest of the world are imagining all of this
together, at the same time.
It came from nothing.
First of all,the human mind cannot fully comprehend true
"nothingness". One cannot measure it
empirically because the observation would require an
other than natural (supernatural) ability to observe in
pure spirit. No time, no space, no matter. Our minds
picture empty space, but that's not nothing; empty space is something. How can something come from
nothing? If there were truly and absolutely nothing, something couldn't exist
to create itself.
The first law of thermodynamics, which states that the
energy going into a heat engine must equal the useful
work coming out plus the change in internal heat energy,
is equivalent to the law of conservation of energy. It
is not possible to get something from nothing. No engine
can do more useful work than the amount of energy input.
Here's a joke for you:
One day a group of
scientists got together and decided that man
had come a long way and no longer needed
God. So they picked one scientist to go and
tell Him that they were done with Him.
The scientist walked up to God and said,
"God, we've decided that we no longer need
you. We're to the point that we can clone
people and do many miraculous things, so why
don't you just go on and get lost."
God listened very patiently and kindly to
the man and after the scientist was done
talking, God said, "Very well, how about
this, let's say we have a man making
contest." To which the scientist replied,
But God added, "Now, we're going to do this
just like I did back in the old days with

The Far Side by Gary Larson.
It's a picture of God in the
kitchen with the Earth in a
skillet. There is a shelf of
ingredients in different sized
boxes and jars behind him with
labels such as: birds, insects,
krill, med. skinned people,
light skinned people, dark
skinned people, plants,
reptiles, and amphibians. On the
table is a box labeled trees, a
measuring cup, and spoon. There
is a thought bubble, "And just
to make it interesting..." as
God with his chefs hat is
sprinkling a red jar labeled
"jerks" onto the Earth. The
cartoon is really funny but Gary
Larson has made it explicitly
clear that he does not want his
always existed. Science has proven that space and matter
has indeed originated from an absolute position and that
the amount of useful work the universe can do is
decreasing. Energy is not being lost, it's just being so
dispersed that eventually there will be no more useful
work. If the universe always existed, we would have
already reached the point of no more useful work. You
can stick the multiverse theory in here too.
second law of thermodynamics states that the amount of
energy in a system that is available to do work is
decreasing. Entropy increases as available energy
decreases. In other words, the purely natural tendency
of things is to move toward chaos--not order; and
available energy necessary for work is lost (mostly as
heat) in this process. Eventually, the universe will
run down, and all life and motion will cease because all
the energy that exists will be, more or less, evenly
distributed so that no work can be performed and no life
can exist. This is the natural tendency of all things.
Batteries run down, machines break, buildings crumble,
roads decay, living things die, etc. Left to the
natural state, all things would eventually cease to

Because the universe had a beginning, it is not
infinite in size.
It would require an infinite amount of time to
become infinite in size. Since the universe had
a beginning, it has not had an infinite amount
of time to expand; therefore, it is finite in

There cannot be an infinite regress of events

We've already established that the universe
cannot be infinitely old.
If it were infinitely old, the universe
would be in a state of unusable energy,
which it is not.
If it were infinitely old, the universe
would be infinitely large, which it is not.

causes to bring it into existence, there must be a
single uncaused cause of the universe.
single uncaused cause of the universe must be
greater in size and duration than the universe
it has brought into existence.
Otherwise, we have the uncaused cause
bringing into existence something greater
than, or equal to, itself.
Any cause that is natural to the universe is
part of the universe.
An event that is part of the universe cannot
cause itself to exist.
Therefore, there must be an uncaused cause
outside the universe.
An uncaused cause cannot be a natural part of
the universe, which is finite.
An uncaused cause would be infinite in both
space and time since it is greater than
which it has caused to exist.
An uncaused cause would be separate from the
Being separate from the universe, which was
caused to be, it would not be subject to the
laws of the universe since it existed
independent of the universe and its laws.
This would mean that entropy need not be
required of the uncaused cause.
uncaused cause is supernatural.
By supernatural, it is meant completely 'other'
than the universe and is not the product of it.
This uncaused cause must be incredibly
powerful to bring the universe into

This means that God is uncaused.
Therefore, the God of the Bible is the uncaused
cause of the universe.
It was created. An intelligent designer - all knowing,
all powerful and everywhere present being - independent
of time, space and matter - created, not made,
everything that we know and more. If you could figure
Him out, He wouldn't be and Almighty God, would He?
He has left us a guidebook and though I'm now convinced of the reliability of
the Bible, I'm not one who blindly accepts everything I read. God did not leave His existence without clear and
convincing evidence that can be found inside and outside the Bible.
Nowhere does the Bible suggest that God intends for believers
to blindly, mindlessly follow without ever questioning. The undeniable
proof of His existence and the evidence of His love and power is
evident at the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is this single event that is the center of human history and the
pivotal moment in the Bible.
I'M A HISTORIAN. I AM NOT A
BUT I MUST CONFESS AS A HISTORIAN
THAT THIS PENNILESS PREACHER FROM
NAZARETH IS IRREVOCABLY THE VERY
CENTER OF HISTORY. JESUS CHRIST IS
EASILY THE MOST DOMINANT FIGURE
IN ALL OF HISTORY.
HISTORIAN, H.G. WELLS
Once I became one hundred
percent convinced that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, all
other challenges to faith are minor and inconsequential. The only
conclusions that can be reached about Jesus Christ
is that He was a legend, a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord. Which conclusion have you reached?
If you don't yet trust the Holy Bible as a reliable witness, then
please read the evidence that comes from historical extra-biblical
sources. The evidence is overwhelming, for those willing to take
time to study it. If
it's true that Jesus Christ died for our sins, then was resurrected from the dead (as I declare),
then our acceptance or
rejection of Him
will have eternal consequences for us all.

AND IF TRUE, OF INFINITE
THE ONLY THING IT CANNOT BE IS
